About us

Founded in 1981, the Library is in charge of providing the information services to the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, the Inter-American Institute of Human Rights, and the national and international researchers on the field.

Its collection represents the compromise of acquiring and preserving material related to the current work of both institutions.

To acquire, analyze, and organize information regarding judicial matters, using the most vanguard bibliographical and informational tools available in the market, so that the consultant and supplying function of the Information Center can facilitate its users access to these sources.

To turn the Library into an Information Center with a solid technical authority whose primary function is to give advice and information to the employees of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights and to the Inter-American Institute of Human Rights, in a way that directly contributes to the best performance of their duties so that they can make decisions in a knowledgeable and timely manner within a frame of excellence.
