The Inter-American Court held its 148th Regular Session from 9 to 25 May 2022.

The Inter-American Court held its 64th Special Session online on May 30, 2022. The Court met virtually.

The Inter-American Court held its 65th Special Session between July 25 and 27, 2022. The former composition of the Court met virtually to continue hearing and deliberating on the Case of Members and Militants of the Patriotic Union v. Colombia. The Court also deliberated various Judgments of Interpretation.

The Inter-American Court of Human Rights expresses its deep sorrow on the sad passing of the former President and former Judge of the Court, Antônio Augusto Cançado Trindade, and conveys its deepest condolences to his family and friends on such a painful and irreparable loss.

In accordance with the provisions of the order on monitoring compliance with judgment issued by the Inter-American Court on May 12, 2022, Guatemala has carried out the reparations ordered in the Judgment of May 10, 2019. Therefore, the Court will close and archive the case.

On May 5, 2022, Judges Verónica Gómez and Patricia Pérez Goldberg presented a seminar to Brazilian judges who undertook the Diploma course on " Conventionality Control" organized by The National School for the Training of Magistrates in Brazil.

On May 24, 2022, the President of the Inter-American Court, Judge Ricardo C. Pérez Manrique, participated in the seminar: "Gender Perspective. In the case law of the Inter-American Court, Legislation and the Supreme Court of Justice" organized by the Faculty of Law of the University of the Republic, Uruguay "Beyond the storms we must stay the course in promoting a gender perspective in legal work, but also in the training of legal professionals," said the President of the Inter-American Court, Judge Ricardo C. Pérez Manrique.

On May 30, 2022, Verónica Gómez, Judge of the Inter-American Court, gave an Conference as part of the "Conference on Human Rights and Internal Displacement" organized by the Global Campus of Human Rights together with the Centre for Human Rights of the University of Pretoria.

On June 30, 2022, the President of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, Judge Ricardo C. Pérez Manrique, presented the Court’s Annual Report for 2021 to the Committee on Juridical and Political Affairs of the Permanent Council of the Organization of American States (OAS).

On June 20, the Secretariats of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights and the African Court of Human and Peoples' Rights, as well as the Department for the Execution of Judgments of the European Court of Human Rights and the Petitions and Urgent Actions Section of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights held a virtual work meeting where they discussed their work regarding Monitoring Compliance with the Decisions of International Human Rights Courts and Bodies.

Last Wednesday, May 11, the Inter-American Court received a delegation of Judges from the Superior Labour Court of Brazil and signed an Institutional Cooperation Agreement with the National School for the Training and Improvement of Labour Magistrates, and with the Judicial School of the Regional Labour Court of the 14th Region.

On May 3, 2022, the President of the Inter-American Court, Judge Ricardo C. Pérez Manrique, and Judge Rodrigo Mudrovitsch held a working meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Brazil, Ambassador Carlos Alberto Franco França. Also at the meeting was the Registrar of the Inter-American Court, Pablo Saavedra Alessandri, and a delegation from the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On May 18, 2022, the President of the Inter-American Court, Judge Ricardo C. Pérez Manrique, held a meeting with the Vice President of Colombia, Marta Lucía Ramírez de Rincón, in the President’s office in Montevideo, Uruguay.

At the Court's headquarters, on May 18, 2022, a working meeting was held between the Secretariat of the Inter-American Court with the Norwegian Embassy in Mexico for Central America and the Swedish Embassy in Guatemala and the Swedish International Development Agency SIDA.

On May 9, 2022, the full bench of the Judges of the Inter-American Court met with the Foreign Affairs Minister of Chile, Antonia Urrejola, at the Court's headquarters, in San José, Costa Rica. The Delegation was accompanied by the Ambassador of Chile in Costa Rica, Mr. Oscar Alcamán, and the First Secretary, Mr. Pablo Bustos. The President of the Inter-American Court, Judge Ricardo C. Pérez Manrique, took the opportunity to extend his greetings to the Chilean government and highlighted the Minister’s track record in defending human rights in Latin America and the Caribbean.

On June 22, 2022, Her Excellency Martina Nibbeling-Wriessnig, Ambassador of Germany in Costa Rica, and the Embassy Attaché, Tim Breier, visited the Headquarters of the Inter-American Court. A meeting was held with the plenary of the Judges of the Inter-American Court, the delegation of the Embassy and representatives of the German Development Agency GIZ.

On May 6, 2022, the President of the Inter-American Court, Judge Ricardo C. Pérez Manrique, and the Secretariat of the Inter-American Court received the Ambassador of Norway in Mexico, concurrent in Central America, Ragnhild Imerslund, and Counselor, Gro Dahle.

On May 16, 2022, Judge Nancy Hernández Lopez of the Inter-American Court, together with the Registrar of the Court, received the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Extrajudicial, Summary or Arbitrary Executions, Mr. Morris Tidball -Binz.

On May 19, former judge and former President of the Court, Dr. Sergio García Ramírez, opened the Inter-American Court of Human Rights’ Fourth edition of the case law refresher course in San Salvador. Miguel Ángel Calero Ángel, President of the National Council of the Judiciary (CNJ) also participated in the opening ceremony, along with Counselors of the CNJ, Doris Deysi Castillo de Escobar, Verónica Lissette González Penado, Luis Alonso Ramírez Menéndez, and Santos Guerra Grijalba.

On May 26, 2022, the President of the Inter-American Court, Judge Ricardo C. Pérez Manrique, and the President of the Constitutional Court and General Director of the Institute of Constitutional Justice, Judge Dina Josefina Ochoa Escribá, closed the first module of the Fourth Edition of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights’ Case Law Refresher Course that will take place in Guatemala from May 25 to July 7, 2022.

On June 20, 2022 the Inter-American Court of Human Rights opened the fourth edition of the refresher course on its case law in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, with the participation of Ingrid Ramos Madrid, Deputy Director of the Honduran Judicial School "Francisco Salomón Jiménez Castro", Dr. Carlos David Calix Vallecillo, Director of the “Orlan Arturo Chávez” Training School of the Public Prosecution Service, and Tomás Andrade Rodas, Deputy Attorney General of the Republic.

On June 28, the Inter-American Court of Human Rights closed the fourth edition of the Refresher Course on its case law in San Salvador, El Salvador. The closing ceremony was attended by the President of the National Council of the Judiciary, Miguel Ángel Calero Ángel, and the Director of the "Arturo Zeledón Castrillo" Judicial Training School, Dr. Luis Alonso Ramírez Menéndez.

On June 15, 2022, the President of the Inter-American Court, Judge Ricardo C. Pérez Manrique, gave a closing address to the Inter-American Court Workshop with Journalists and Media Editors in Uruguay, presented with the support of the Fundación Gabo Universidad ORT Uruguay and UNESCO. In these workshops that will be held at the Court, the President will present the "5W of the Inter-American Court for Journalists" and he will open spaces for dialogue and direct exchange with media professionals.

The President of the Inter-American Court, Judge Ricardo C. Pérez Manrique, and the Court Registrar Pablo Saavedra Alessandri, participated in the World Press Freedom Day Global Conference organized by UNESCO, held from May 2 to May 5, 2022, in Punta del Este, Uruguay.

As part of World Press Freedom Day celebrated every year on May 3, the Inter-American Court’s DIALOGUE NETWORK (RED DIALOGA) of Human Rights Journalists in Latin America and the Caribbean celebrates all journalists on this day.

On May 10, 2022, the Inter-American Court of Human Rights signed a Cooperation Agreement with the National Association of Lawyers of Panama. The President of the Inter-American Court, Judge Ricardo C. Pérez Manrique, highlighted the role that lawyers who defend human rights play in their countries.

The Inter-American Court is pleased to announce the publication in Portuguese of the 11th Case Law Bulletin of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights: Tribal and Indigenous Peoples. This publication constitutes a historic occasion as it is the first Case Law Bulletin published by the Court of San José in Portuguese, and begins the collection in the Portuguese language, for the benefit of all interested persons and, in particular, of the sister Republic of Brazil.
