What are the Amici Curiae?

The amici curiae are written by external actors outside a case or a request for an advisory opinion that the Inter-American Court is studying, who voluntarily offer their opinion on any aspect related to the case or the request for an advisory opinion. In order to collaborate with the Court in the order of the judgment or in the order of the advisory opinion.

Who can submit an Amicus Curiae?

As stated in Article 44 of the American Convention on Human Rights, any person or institution can present an amicus curiae. They must be submitted by email to [email protected], indicating who submits it and their respective signature.
