Inter-American Court inaugurates Fifth Refresher Course on its Case Law in El Salvador

 

San José, Costa Rica, May 19, 2023. On May 16, the Inter-American Court of Human Rights inaugurated the 5th Refresher Course on the Case Law of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, in San Salvador, El Salvador.

The Course was inaugurated by the Registrar of the Inter-American Court, Pablo Saavedra Alessandri, who underlined the support provided by the organs for the administration of justice that have organized this training activity every year since 2019. Bessy Aguirre de Flores, acting Director of the “Dr. Arturo Zeledón Castrillo” Judicial Training Academy also took part in the inauguration.

The Course is imparted under the project “Strengthening the protection of human rights and the rule of law through jurisprudential dialogue, optimization of capacities, and compliance with the Judgments of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights in El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua,” signed with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (COSUDE).


Officials from the Judiciary, the Public Prosecution Service, the Attorney General’s Office, the Public Defense Service, and the Ombudsman’s Office, together with other key officials for the protection of human rights in El Salvador, participated in this in-person training process.

The introductory module was imparted on the campus of the Judicial Training Academy of the National Judicial Council (CNJ) by Claudia Martin, Professorial Lecturer in Residence and Co-director of the Academy on Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law at American University Washington College of Law.
