The Second Edition of the Course on Women’s Rights in the Jurisprudence of the Inter-American Court was held in Honduras

 

San José, Costa Rica, August 15, 2023.- On August 10 and 11, 2023, the Inter-American Court of Human Rights held in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, the second edition of the Course on Women’s Rights in the Jurisprudence of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights. It was held in the Judicial School of Honduras “Francisco Salomón Jiménez Castro,” and had more than 30 participants, including officers of the justice administration belonging to the Judicial Branch, the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the Public Defender’s Office, and the Attorney General’s Office, among other key institutions for the protection of the human rights of women in the country.

The course was facilitated by attorneys Juana María Ibáñez Rivas, former attorney of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights and international consultant on human rights and international humanitarian law; Cecilia La Hoz Barrera, former attorney of the Secretariat of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights; Inés Jaureguiberry, Public Defender of Argentina; and Ana Belem García Chavarría, attorney of the Secretariat of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights.

The second edition of the Course on Women’s Rights is part of of the third phase of the Project "Strengthening the Protection of Human Rights and the Rule of Law through jurisprudential dialogue, optimization of institutional capacities and compliance with the Judgments of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights in El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala,” signed with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), which seeks to optimize the capacities of the judicial administration officers for the application of International Human Rights Law and the jurisprudence of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights.
