The Inter-American Court closed the second specific Course in Guatemala on Impunity and Gross Human Rights Violations

 

On March 25, 2021, the Inter-American Court closed the second specific training course in Guatemala on “Impunity and Gross Human Rights Violations.” The Course was held from March 22 to 25, using the videoconferencing platform of the Institute of Constitutional Justice (IJC) of the Constitutional Court of Guatemala. 220 officials of the administration of justice took part in the course, including judges, prosecutors, public criminal defenders, and representatives of other key institutions for the protection of human rights in that country.

This training program is one of the activities of the Project “Strengthening the protection of human rights and the rule of law through jurisprudential dialogue, optimization of capacities, and compliance with the Judgments of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights in El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras” that is being implemented by the Inter-American Court with the support of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (COSUDE), the Constitutional Court and the Institute of Constitutional Justice.

The Course was imparted by Elizabeth Salmón Gárate, PhD.

It was closed by the Director of the Institute of Constitutional Justice, Silvia Guadalupe Dubón Espinoza; the Inter-American Court was represented by the lawyer of the Court’s Secretariat, Javier Mariezcurrena and Judge Ricardo Pérez Manrique, who sent a virtual message.
