Inter-American Court of Human Rights concluded its third edition Refresher Course on its Case Law Diploma, in Guatemala

 

San José, Costa Rica, Costa Rica, August 17, 2021.- On August 12, the Inter-American Court of Human Rights concluded its third edition of its Refresher Course on the Court’s Case Law Diploma, in Guatemala.

More than 150 people took part in the closing module, including Judges, Prosecutors from the Public Prosecution Service, and Public Criminal Defenders, in addition to other key officials for the protection of human rights in that country.

During the Course, participants expanded their knowledge about essential aspects of international human rights law and the Inter-American System for the Protection of Human Rights. In addition, in the self-training module they were able to study the main rights recognized in the American Convention, and the discussion and updating process concluded with the presentation of case law standards for administration of justice and political rights.

Claudio Nash Rojas was the principal lecturer in the closing session, assisted by Inti Schubert, and Julio Cordón Aguilar, a lawyer from the Inter-American Court’s Secretariat.

The Course forms part of the project “Strengthening the protection of human rights and the rule of law through jurisprudential dialogue, optimization of capacities, and compliance with the judgments of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights in El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras” signed with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (COSUDE), which seeks to optimize the capacity of those working in the administration of justice to apply International Human Rights Law and the Case Law of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights.
