The Inter-American Court of Human Rights and the Association of Public Defenders of Uruguay held a Course on “Public Defense and the Inter-American Court of Human Rights”

 

San José, Costa Rica, October 25, 2021.- On October 20 and 25, 2021, the Inter-American Court of Human Rights and the Association of Public Defenders of Uruguay held a course on “Public Defense and the Inter-American Court of Human Rights".

Some 50 public defenders from Uruguay participated in the Course, as well as those from Argentina, Ecuador, Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Chile, El Salvador, Costa Rica and Paraguay, to deepen their knowledge on the Inter-American Court, Public Defense in the Court’s case law, review of compliance with the Convention on Human Rights, as well as the role of the Inter-American Public Defense in the various procedural stages before the San José Court.

The Course was led by the educational team comprising the San José Court Judge, Ricardo Pérez Manrique, Pablo González Domínguez, lawyer for the Secretariat of the Inter-American Court, and Argentine and Inter-American public defenders Silvia Martínez and Fernanda López Puleio.
