San José, Costa Rica, November 26, 2021. On November 23, the Inter-American Court of Human Rights concluded its course on “The right to social protest, public order and the Inter-American Court of Human Rights”.
Held between November 8 and 23, 2021, the course addressed 100 public officials of the State of E cuador, drawn from the State Attorney General’s Office, National Police, Armed Forces, the Public Defender’s Office, National Assembly, Council of the Judiciary, Ministry of National Defense and the State Attorney General's Office. The course was a part of Intera joint project between the American Court of Human Rights and Ecuador’s Office of the Attorney General.
Throughout the course, participants had the opportunity to deepen their knowledge on the Inter American standards related to social protest andhuman rights. The course consisted of the forum "The right to social protest and human rights", with the participation of approximately 270 attendees, mainly officials from the public sector of the State of Ecuador. It also included a starter module deliv ered via live video conferencing, a selftraining module consisting of asynchronous activities, and two hypothetical case analysis workshops. The course was led by Professor Claudia Martin, CoHuman director of the Academy on Human Rights and International itarian Law, and resident professor at the American University Washington College of Law, and Claudio Nash Rojas, coordinator of the Human Rights Chair at the University of Chile.
