On March 1st, the President of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, Judge Ricardo C. Pérez Manrique, and the General Director of the Center for Constitutional Studies of the Constitutional Court of Peru, Judge Marianella Leonor Ledesma Narváez, opened in Peru the Training Course on Legal Standards of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, which brought together 1,000 registered participants.
The opening event was led by the President of the Inter-American Court, Judge Ricardo C. Pérez Manrique, with the participation of justice officials, including Judges, prosecutors, public defenders, and attorneys, among other key human rights protection authorities in Peru.
The training activity will be taking place from March 1st to 28, 2022, and will be comprised of four synchronous conferences through which participants will be able to deepen their knowledge about the Inter-American Human Rights System, the norms and powers of its protection bodies, and the main Case Law standards related to enforcement of the Convention and the rights of women. In addition to the reading material, through a self-training process, participants will be studying seven pre-recorded conferences given by lawyers from the Inter-American Court on the rights of persons with disabilities, the rights of migrants and refugees, the rights of persons deprived of liberty, and the principles of equality and non-discrimination, among other relevant issues.
