Inter-American Court of Human Rights held its 168th Regular Session

San José, Costa Rica, July 10, 2024. – The Inter-American Court of Human Rights held its 168th Regular Session from June 17-21 and July 1-5, 2024. During this session the Court deliberated the judgments in four contentious cases and one interpretation of Judgment, and it held two Public Hearings in contentious cases, one Public Hearing on a request for Provisional Measures and one Private Hearing on Monitoring Compliance with Judgment.

Chile cumplió con la sentencia del Caso Profesores de Chañaral y otras Municipalidades

San José, Costa Rica, 10 de julio de 2025. De conformidad con lo señalado en la Resolución de Supervisión de Cumplimiento de Sentencia emitida por la Corte el 1 de julio de 2025, la República de Chile cumplió con ejecutar todas las reparaciones ordenadas en la Sentencia del 10 de noviembre de 2021. Por lo tanto, la Corte Interamericana de Derechos Humanos decidió dar por concluido y archivar el caso. San José, Costa Rica, July 3, 2025. The Inter-American Court of Human Rights notified today Advisory Opinion 32 of 2025 on the Climate Emergency and Human Rights, adopted on May 29, 2025, in response to the request submitted by the Republic of Chile and the Republic of Colombia in January 2023.

The Inter-American Court of Human Rights holds its 176th Regular Session

San José, Costa Rica, June 5, 2025. The Inter-American Court of Human Rights held its 176th regular session from May 19 to 30, 2025, in a hybrid form. During the session, it held hearings and deliberations, and discussed urgent matters. The first week took place with the presence of the judges in Guatemala City, Guatemala, with the activities described previously here, while the second week was conducted virtually.

Extension of the deadline for receiving observations on the request for an Advisory Opinion presented by the Republic of Guatemala

San José, Costa Rica, June 3, 2025. On December 6, 2024, the Republic of Guatemala presented a request for an advisory opinion on Democracy and its protection under the inter-American system of human rights to the Secretariat of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, in accordance with Article 64(1) of the American Convention on Human Rights.

The Inter-American Court of Human Rights has held a Regular Session in Guatemala

San José, Costa Rica, May 30, 2025. From May 19 to 23, 2025, the Inter-American Court of Human Rights held the first week of work corresponding to its 176^th regular session in Guatemala City. This was possible thanks to an invitation from the Government of the Republic of Guatemala, with the support of the Presidential Commission for Peace and Human Rights (COPADEH), as the local organizing body.

Inter-American Court of Human Rights translates key judgments into english and portuguese thanks to the support of Sweden

San José, Costa Rica, May 28, 2025 - The Inter-American Court of Human Rights, with the support of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), has made available on its website the translation of 14 judgments into English and 2 judgments into Portuguese, issued by the Court in 2022 and 2023. The documents were translated between January and December 2024.
