The Inter-American Court of Human Rights presents the second edition of the Training Course on Human Rights for Journalists of Latin America and the Caribbean within the framework of the RED DIALOGA composed of more than 3,000 communication professional in the region. The course has been organized in collaboration with the UNESCO Regional Office for Information and Communication, the Rule of Law Program for Latin America of the KAS Foundation, and the Inter-American Institute of Human Rights, with the support of the European Commission on Human Rights.
The course provides information on the functioning of the Inter-American System of Human Rights and, in particular, the Inter-American Court of Human Rights. In addition, it will examine the Inter-American Court’s case law on issues such as gross human rights violations, freedom of expression, violence against women, migrants, discrimination based on sexual orientation, indigenous communities, economic, social, cultural and environmental rights, and reparations for violations of human rights, among many others.
The objective of this program is to enable those who work in the field of journalism to incorporate the information on human rights acquired during the course into their daily work. The course will be imparted in 10 sessions.
After each session, a practical example will be examined in order to encourage a journalistic analysis of the work of the Inter-American System of Human Rights and the associated case law.
At the end of the course, participants will prepare a report on some of the issues linked to the work of the Inter-American Court, which will eventually be published on the website of the journalists’ RED DIALOGA of the Court.
Registrations for the course will be accepted from February 10 to March 10, 2021, on the following form: https://forms.gle/C2bqxfKe1N65TX1J8
